Nov. 5, 2018 - Two high schools in the district are ready to step into the national spotlight – both being recognized for programs that are successfully preparing students for careers.
On Monday, teachers from A. Philip Randolph and Frank H. Peterson will be in Houston, Texas for the National Career Academy Coalition’s annual conference. At the conference, their respective cosmetology and culinary programs will be formally honored as “National Model Academies.”
To earn this status, both programs were measured against Ten National Standards of Practice, which include academy design, student assessment and sustainability.
While this isn’t the first Model Academy distinction for Peterson, this marks the first for A. Philip Randolph.
