Dec. 4, 2018 - Congratulations to this year's Duval County Public Schools’ District-wide Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year, Crystal Lewis and Rhonda Motley.
Lewis and Motley were recognized and presented with trophies at November’s principal meeting. The two will move on to compete for the Florida Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year titles, which will be announced in February 2019.
"I am deeply honored to receive the title of Principal of the Year," said Lewis. "Children want to feel welcomed, valued and loved. My goal is to make sure these experiences happen daily by being an example and setting high expectations for everyone who interacts with our babies."
In addition to the two district-wide winners, one principal and one assistant principal from each academic level – turnaround, elementary, middle, and high – were recognized for going above and beyond in their dedication to improving schools, and creating a safe and positive learning environment.
Principals who were nominated for their region were asked to write an essay about their school's story and the role they've played in the progress their school has made over the years. A selection committee carefully reviewed their essays and supporting data.
